What causes dark circles under the eye

Dark circles under the eyes commonly appear when the delicate contours of the eyes have become weakened and delicate

Have you ever looked in the mirror and noticed dark circles underneath your eyes? These pesky blue-tinged shadows tend to make us look tired, no matter how much beauty rest we get or long term stress. Dark circles can also be caused by many factors such as overexposure to bright light, dry air, environmental stressors. Even every day  activities like blinking, staring at screens, or being exposed to bright lights, our skin can easily become worn-down, and may make you appear exhausted and worn down.

The reason these rings appear is due to thin skin around the eye area and poor circulation.  Microcirculation of blood and lymph fluid can slow down when we’re stressed or not getting enough sleep – As blood and lymphatic circulation slow down in this area, pigment from the blood is no longer properly drained from under the eyes, causing dark circles to form.

PUFFINESS AND DARK CIRCLES, WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE?

Dark circles around the eye area are a common skin concern that can be caused by genetics, ageing, or an unhealthy lifestyle. Possible contributing factors may include lack of sleep, dehydration, alcohol consumption, and a poor diet. This build-up of water and fat can negatively affect the functioning of lymphatic vessels in the eye area, resulting in dark circles that make your eyes look tired and worn out.

Dark circles under the eyes, also known as bags under eyes, are a common aesthetic concern. While they are rarely indicative of an underlying medical issue, they can give the appearance of being over-tired or unhealthy. The dark circles are often caused by genetics, ageing, lifestyle habits and fluid build up around the orbital cavities. These lifestyle habits include inadequate sleep, dehydration, alcohol intake and poor diet. Taking steps to improve these contributing factors

may help reduce the appearance of dark circles.

Dark circles under the eyes are often confused with puffiness. The difference between puffiness and dark circles under the eyes lies in their causes. Puffiness generally results from a build-up of water and fat in the area under the eye, whereas dark circles are often caused by inadequate lymphatic drainage or an unbalanced lifestyle.

1.THE RIGHT DAILY CONCEALER ROUTINE

Dark circles under the eyes are a common beauty concern. While puffiness and dark circles may look similar, they actually require different forms of treatment. To properly address dark circles, you should use two products in your daily routine: an active contour serum for morning application and a miracle eye cream for evening use.

The eye area is poor in collagen, elastin and fat cells, all of which make the skin "plump". As a result, it dark circles more visible and requires daily care to maintain a young and luminous look. To put an end to dark circles and other unsightly marks, here is a simple routine to follow every day :

In the morning: after cleansing your face with the Lily Michael Glacier Skin Perfection Glow Cleanser, tone your eye area by applying the Refresh & Renew Eye Serum. Its formula contains marine spring water with eminently hydrating and revitalizing power. It also contains lily extract to de-stress the skin,  extract and lysine to reduce fine lines and wrinkles. Its action on dark circles, puffiness and signs of aging is stunning!

In the evening: once the face and eye make up has been thoroughly removed with the Topical Milk Cleanser and Refresh & Renew Micellar Water, apply the Glacier Skin Perfection Eye Cream. This gifted treatment with a light texture lives up to its name! Rich in sea hyaluronic acid, collagen, vitamin B3,  and ash bark extract to name a few, it intensely hydrates, restructures collagen around the eyes while also plumping them up to reduce the visibility of wrinkles, bags and dark circles. Following this regimen will restore youthfulness and radiance back into your gaze!

3.The Lily Michael extra tip for a sparkling look ...

For a quick boost in the morning, after a difficult night or in the evening before going out, consider a drop of Rejuvenation HA Hydro Intensive Serum! Effective and smart, a single drop combines the action of a skincare formula rich in plant and marine ingredients: marine spring water to hydrate and improve skin elasticity, Ginkgo biloba to activate micro-circulation, pumpkin extract to soothe tired eyes… There is also hyaluronic acid and bioflavonoids, particularly effective on dark circles.

Our SOS beauty tip: You can run the back of a cold spoon around the eye area. The freshness of the metal and the circular movements will reactivate the blood circulation and help reducing your dark circles.

FACIAL exercise TO TONE YOUR EYES

We know how exercise is good for the body. Taking good care of your skin to maintain its density and radiance is essential. Stimulating the muscles of the face to prevent them from sagging and to preserve its youth is also very important! Here are two very easy exercises to tone and drain your eye area and improve alertness. A few minutes every day in front of your mirror is enough. Take your time and do them mindfully, to the rhythm of your breathing, avoiding making faces and widening your expression lines. When done correctly and consistently, these activities can contribute to a well-rested look with visibly brighter eyes!

  1. Start with the upper eyelid to aid toning: place your index fingers on your closed eyelids, pressing gently. Inhale well and block the breath. As you breathe out slowly and fully through your mouth, pretend you are trying to open your eyes under your index fingers. You can feel your eyes and eyelids twitch and exert a little resistance. Repeat 5 times.
  2. Next work on lower lid to aid toning: eyes open, make a chisel with the index and middle fingers of each hand, then place the middle finger under the inner corner of the eye, and the index finger on the outer corner. Inhale well and block the breath. As you breathe out slowly through your mouth, try to squint, looking at the area between your two eyebrows. Repeat 5 times.
